CLIENT

The client is one of the world’s largest multi-channel consumer electronics retailers, with stores in the United States, Canada, China, Europe and Mexico. They have the distinction of being the retail leader for visual merchandising and loss prevention for today’s most popular consumer electronics.

Challenge

MTI Global Services (MTIGS) visited locations in strategic markets to audit and fix specific planogram issues in their Mobile Department. This request came to MTIGS because of a lack of internal resources and the importance of ensuring that their Mobile section was optimized to execute on sales. The focus of this audit program was the No Contract (Unlocked) phone sections in each store. The unlocked phone business is continuing to grow in specific markets due to high international traffic (tourists, visitors, etc.), and the client wants help to ensure stores are set to the planogram to capitalize on sales.

Approach

Audit of all mobile phones listed on respective planograms
• Ensure correct placement of each phone on planogram; rectify any errors
• Capture any broken/missing phones via the visit survey

Ensure each phone is secured properly
• If not secured properly, look for replacement security part(s) in the warehouse
• Capture any needed parts via the visit survey

Ensure demo content is playing
• Ensure demo content is playing on devices, using demo guides to restart if not

Audit signage
• Review merchandising standards for customer (unlocked table specific)
• Capture any missing and outdated signage via the visit survey

Restock chit cards
• Ensure no more than 5 cards per peg hook; work with manager on duty if additional cards are needed
• Advise on removal of old models

Results

• Multiple phones per location were reset to their correct planogram position
• Phone security was corrected in multiple locations
• Timely reporting provided to ensure quick action based on initial visit
• Visual proof of displays from all stores to help show actual state of merchandising
