Position Summary: 

MTI’s Director of Human Resources is responsible for both the administrative and strategic areas of the Human Resources function. As a strategic partner, the Director of HR aligns business objectives with employees and management, serving as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues, both domestically and internationally.  In addition, the role includes the management of three direct reports currently across HR and Payroll.  Functional areas of responsibility include employee benefits design and administration, payroll administration, employee relations, workplace safety, recruiting, onboarding, orientation, and training, adherence to employment laws and regulations, employee recognition, company-sponsored events, and activities and other administrative duties. The Director of HR maintains an effective level of business acumen regarding MTI’s financial position, company objectives, culture, and competition.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides day-to-day performance management and employee relations guidance to management (coaching, collaboration, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions); works closely with management and employees with the objective of improving work relationships, building morale and increasing productivity, engagement and retention
  • Supervises HR and Payroll team, providing coaching and development of those employees
  • Develops, recommends and administers employee recognition, reward and retention initiatives/programs and activities
  • Administers performance management/review process to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization; revises or improves process as needed
  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive compensation plan; administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within the organization
  • Manages recruitment effort for all high level exempt and nonexempt personnel; actively participants in the talent acquisition recruitment and selection process
  • Oversees new employee orientation/onboarding process; develops and recommends alternative processes with the objective of improving onboarding effectiveness of new team members
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, information activities program, and cash flow
  • Manages and effectively resolves employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Responsible for payroll and administers benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, 401(k) plan, Paid Time Off, leave of absence, etc. for employees in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, UK, and Mexico.  Manages the renewal process of benefit programs as well.
  • Maintains records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and retirement plan(s), personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
  • Oversees company workplace safety initiatives, committees, training, and policy/procedure; conducts investigations, reporting, maintenance and follow-up of Worker Compensation claims
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting comply
  • Identifies training needs (group or individual) within the organization; researches, recommends and coordinates various training programs; participates in evaluation and monitoring of the success of training program and follows up to ensure training objectives are met
  • Maintains a working knowledge of federal, state and relevant international employment laws/regulations; responsible for keeping abreast of all federal and state employment regulations in each state or country the company retains employees; maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment, seeks to reduce the legal risk for the company
  • Responsible for oversight of employee file documentation as dictated by governing agencies and company requirements
  • Assists in the preparation of the budget for human resources operations
  • Drive and develop a full span of training and development of the organization.

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and seven to ten years of HR experience required
  • Four or more years HR management experience required
  • Working knowledge of human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws
  • Previous HR experience in a tech manufacturing environment a plus
  • PHR/SPHR certification a plus
  • Previous payroll experience required; previous experience with ADP a plus
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and/or management through sometimes complex and difficult issues
  • Practices disciplined confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks through prioritization with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels

About the Job:

The Senior Business Analyst will review, analyze, and document business systems, user needs, and customer requirements. In addition, the team member will assist with the definition of scope and objectives as well as testing and the implementation of enterprise-wide systems across functional areas for customers. This individual will also work in collaboration with the developers to design and document custom solutions, drive application configuration, testing and evaluation to ensure quality, consistency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities of the role:  

  • Owns the technical aspect of Salesforce.com, applications and a key interface between Business and IT teams, including Sales Cloud and Field Services Lightning modules.
  • Translates business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage com and other MTI platforms.
  • Serves as the solution owner and technical leader as well as a partner with business users to elicit requirements via interaction design sessions, business process descriptions, use cases, data analysis, and process mapping.
  • Uses technical expertise to design, develop (program), test, document, and deploy high-quality business solutions on the Salesforce.com platform and third-party integrations with Salesforce.com
  • Collaborates with developers to test and verify that solutions will meet the business requirements.
  • Participates in end-to-end implementation planning including project management, resolution management, communication and change management.
  • Participates in key meetings with Sales organization including requirement sessions, system demos, user acceptance testing, and end-user training.
  • Creates objects, fields, workflows, security setup, other configurations, and triggers, with support from Development.
  • Actively participates in the Portland Salesforce User Group & drives Accelerator learning programs.
  • Assists the IT team with triaging, tracking and resolving customer issues.

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (technical degree preferred)
  • 8+ years of technical/business analyst experience
  • com certification (Administrator, Advanced Administrator) preferred
  • Consulting background preferred
  • Must have Sales Cloud & Field Service Lightning experience
  • Extensive experience analyzing, designing, configuring and supporting Salesforce implementations (Sales & Mfg Cloud & Field Service Lightning)
  • Demonstrated success in driving business change and project management

Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Agile Methodologies including the writing of user stories, acceptance criteria, elicitation, documentation, and managing requirements over the software development life cycle
  • Possess the ability to make quick decisions and drive change

  • Passionate about end-user experience
